Does my strata need safety glass installed?The legislation for new builds states that glass in strata buildings should be safety glass. Even if you occupy an older building, how would you feel if a serious accident occurred in your building through inadequate glass products?
What is safety glass?There are two main types of safety glass but both of them share one critical property: they won't shatter into dangerous shards when broken.
Laminated glass is the most commonly used safety glass in apartment complexes and public areas. Among its other benefits, laminated glass is extremely strong so it's regarded as better for security.
Toughened glass is a cheaper alternative to laminated glass but it doesn't share the same strength and is therefore a less secure option.
